What is Supported Living? "Supported Living is...independence with a twist." Supported Living offers adults with disabilities the opportunity to have real homes in the real world. It provides people with the ability to choose where, how and with whom they live. Supported living is a program in which each support is tailored to each individual's unique preferences. Supported livng services are individually designed, with flexible supports based on strengths, needs and personal desires. LARC's Supported Living program enables people to live in their own homes or apartments in nice neighborhoods throughout Lee County. Supported Living allows each person to be provided an individualized level of support based on his or her disabilities. One of the main objectives is to ensure all participants receive the training and supports needed to live independently. The Supported Living staff provides training and supports in numerous areas such as: money management, meal preparation, personal care, doctor's appointments, and accessing the transportation system. Support is provided where needed and can be coordinated in ways that maximize the individual's abilities. With individualized training and support people can rent or own their homes, hold good jobs, and become active members of their communities. Supported Living program participants are our coworkers, neighbors and friends. For more information on LARC's Supported Living program contact... Interested persons are not expected to demonstrate complete independence to participate in LARC's Supported Living program, only the desire and will to live independently. |
